How We Work
At the core of efolkMusic is a robust, comprehensive, and interactive multimedia
Web site that offers
- a large collection of music in digital format, thousands of tracks from exceptional
musicians available for promotional use and purchase, for immediate download
- numerous streaming audio samples of various recordings
- extensive artist information, including discography, performance schedules
and reviews
- interactive databases of folk radio shows, festivals and house concerts
- online folk music radio feed
- discussion forums
- services for artists, including online CD and MP3 sales and folk radio CD distribution
Site visitors will discover music and artists of interest by browsing features and
musical genres, listening to music and discussing topics in our forum. Part library,
part living museum, all in a highly accessible interactive online application.
eFolkMusic is the source for digitally stored folk music. We
- digitize and distribute contemporary and historical recordings
- offer audio and video recordings for online purchase
- pay royalties to artists and encourage further productions
- protect artists’ intellectual property
- develop educational materials to foster understanding of and appreciation for folk
music.
Most importantly, sales of recordings will generate royalties paid to the artists
and archivists allowing them to continue to practice their art. And because
efolkMusic is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization, an even greater share
of the proceeds will be returned to those who create the music.
