Artist Signup Information:

Interested in getting in "high touch" with our community? It's free- join us!!!! efolkMusic is an "invitation MySpace for Americana/folk musicians reaching fans around the world!

We are always looking for exceptional music and artists for our nonprofit music service. efolkMusic is a "curated" website, available by invitation only after we've heard the music. We're certainly not the judge and jury as to what's good and what isn't (or what is folk music and what is not!), but the Internet needs some sorting. Our mission is to promote good music and the artists who create it, any way we can.

We want to hear what you are doing. Application to our roster is simple- Register on the site and click the "artist applicant" box. Then send us a link to where your music can be heard, or send us a CD (101 Evans Ct, Carrboro, NC 27510 USA) - we will review your music and get back to you ASAP.

The benefits of membership- includes access to all efolkMusic artist services:

-Artist page with bio, blog, "listening station" (streaming mp3 player), video embeds, contact form, link to artist website, more

-Direct link to your preferred sales outlet

-Song/artist promotion including eligibility for Member MP3/CD "Sampler" and RSS feeds, WEFM Radio and our monthly newsletter (goes to 9,000+!!!!)

-Folk radio CD distribution service (optional)

-EPK distribution service (optional)

Our artist interface is a "MySpace" style portal giving you a professional presence on what is arguably the premier nonprofit folk music service. Iit's a musician's media and networking application that let's you present yourself the best way possible.

Promotional MP3s that you offer on efolkMusic are eligible for inclusion on our "Supporter Samplers" (a CD/MP3 sampler sent as a premium), our streaming radio station, RSS feeds, widgets and in our newsletters. We assume that if you are offering a free track that you would like us to get to as many as possible ears as we can, and that we have your permission to distribute the track as widely as is possible. Artist retains all rights and responsibilities to music offered on efM and can remove their music at any time.

A Letter From the Chief Musical Officer >>

Dear Artists:

We started efolkMusic back in '99- we knew then that artists needed to stay in touch with their fans and that the Internet could help. We believed that downloads would be the frictionless savior for getting our music to our far-flung community, and started offering mp3s as well as CDs, pioneering the now-popular 98 cent "single" way before Steve Jobs even thought of it. (Hey, he owes us for the idea, doesn't he?)

We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, filling an important need for an under-served market. We're doing everything we can to serve the music and artists of this culturally diverse art form, to help preserve the repertoire and support the current purveyors, and to provide a comprehensive resource for fans all over the globe.

In January 2009 we completed a site development moving us to an open-source server and the "web 2.0" world (we were on a MS server). The new website is focused on providing a resource for fans and a presence/portal for artists. Simply, we want to get your music into as many ears as possible, leveraging the power of the internet.

At efolkMusic, you are part of a filtered community of exceptional musicians- we listen to every artist before they are added to our roster. What we can't do is compete with commercial sites, so we facilitate purchase of your music through Amazon. Payments for sales comes directly from Amazon

To support our services, we solicit our visitors to make donations . Artists have our permission to make donations, too.  We're on the honor system: give what you can if you can.....take what you need.

If you are serious about your music and want more folks to hear it, drop us a line- we promise to listen.

Regards,
Chris Frank
